If the limit of PIN input is exceeded, the smart card is locked. Maximum number of PIN input attempts is defined by the administrator in the smart card usage policy, section Card initialization.

There are two modes of user smart card unlock:

  1. Online unlocking.
  2. Offline unlocking.

Smart card unlock on Windows logon screen is not supported for remote connection via Remote Desktop.
